About Ennis

The Bluebonnet Capital of Texas

In 1997 the Texas Legislature designated Ennis the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas and its Bluebonnet Trail the Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail. Each spring, roughly 40 miles of marked driving routes wind from near I-45 south of downtown, drawing visitors for the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails & Festival held every April.

The town's Czech heritage is on full display at the National Polka Festival, founded in 1967 and held each Memorial Day weekend, one of the largest polka festivals in the United States. Historic downtown, a Texas Main Street City, offers brick streets, boutiques and local dining.

Outdoors

Kachina Prairie, a 30-acre preserve of the rare Blackland Prairie, sits beside Lake Clark Park with walking trails.

Heritage

The Ennis Railroad & Cultural Heritage Museum and a historic downtown tell the town's railroad and Czech story.
